disciple
\ dis-i-p l \ , [fr LL discipulus, fr. L, pupil] 1: one who accepts
and assists in spreading the doctrines of another
The Greek word for disciple
in the New Testament means, literally, “learner.”
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are His students. What are we
learning? Not just information for our heads, but wisdom for our
hearts. Not just what He wants us to do, but how to do it. After
all, Jesus is looking for doers of the Word.
That’s what the School of Discipleship is all about. It’s
for anyone who wants to grow deeper roots in order to bear greater
fruit and stand against stronger storms. On Sunday mornings I
want the Word to inspire you and, when possible, instruct you.
But Wednesday night School of Discipleship is our opportunity
to train you. No soldier would go to battle without training.
No teenager can drive a car without training. No surgeon can operate
without training. Choose your course of training on Wednesday
nights and let’s grow together!
